Methodology
- Source. The public directory at chatgpt.com/plugins, opened in a logged-out browser. We read each category page as rendered, then opened every plugin's detail page once. No login.
- Date. October 5, 2026. We repeat the count each month.
- Fields. Plugin name, subtitle, developer, category, directory URL, position on its category page, number of starter prompts, and the creation date encoded in the plugin ID.
- Cleaning. One row per plugin ID. Category comes from the plugin's detail page. One plugin (tldraw) was on its detail page but not yet on a category page, so it counts toward the total but has no category-page position.
- What we did not measure. Installs, usage, and rank inside chat suggestions.
